Coco Block Product

PRO7 COCO BLOCK

Easy to transport all in one potting solution
A 5KG pressed and dehydrated premium mixed fibre coconut coir pith block making 70L of substrate when expanded.

Peat Free

The PRO7 COCO BLOCK produced by Jiffy is the perfect choice for growers that use a lot of coco and want it to be easy and discrete to transport and store, but more cost effective than buying multiple COCO BRICKS.

Switch to PRO7 media and enjoy healthier, stronger and more vigorous plants with noticeably faster growth rates compared with competitor coco. The PRO7 COCO BRICK is a 100% RHP Certified brick of pressed and dehydrated, mixed fibre coconut coir pith; it is washed/buffered, making it ideal for an all-round potting substrate. Thanks to the reliable consistent quality of coco coir, better temperature control, and versatility, it aids faster rooting and develops stronger plants. Simply rehydrate PRO7 COCO BRICK with 30-35 litres of water and it yields up to 70 litres of exceptional quality Jiffy cocopeat. The perfect, easy to transport, growing media for short-term and seasonal, indoor and outdoor crops.

How to use:

Place your PRO7 COCO BLOCK into a large wide container such as a Garland 1m tray or wheelbarrow, premix your water and nutrient in a bucket then add to your block and watch it swell.

We recommend 30L of lukewarm water for a mix that is not quiet fully wetted up, ideal for if you then wish to water in your freshly potted on plants, and 35 litres if you are not going to water in your plants.

Break it up within the bucket as it swells and fluff it up to produce a uniform product with your hands or a hand fork. This can take 15 to 20 mins. Now is the point at which it is best to add any further substrates you require such as perlite or clay pebbles.
Add your expanded potting mix to a suitable pot and then add your plant. Plants propagated in Jiffy7C plugs or ROOT!T sponge plugs will have a head start ready to thrive in your PRO7 premium substrate.

Start to feed with a professional fertiliser such as VitaLink Coco Coir nutrient proven to promote rapid root development and vigorous growth. Mix in 1-2 ml/L of each of A and B solutions to your water for seedlings and young plants. Begin to increase the dose rate once you see your seedlings or plants have established and are actively growing. Use at 3-4 ml/L of each of A and B solutions for mature plants.

Always check the water quality in your area and ensure you are using the correct variant – either hard water or soft water. In very soft water areas, we recommend a half strength CalMag supplement such as Vitalink CalMag (0.5ml/L) during the growth stage.
PRO7 COCO BRICK works perfectly in combination with Jiffy7c plugs and ROOT!T plugs.

Frequently asked questions about COCO BLOCK

30L for a drier mix, which is perfect for plants that you wish to ‘water in’, or 35L for a wetter potting mix to plant directly into without ‘watering in’.

Lukewarm water speeds up expansion, however cold water will work just fine.

All PRO7 coco is the highest quality Jiffy mixed fibre coco peat. The difference is that loose fill bags have never been compressed and then rehydrated, which leads to a slightly better fibre structure than its rehydrated brother. The compressed blocks however are cheaper and easier to handle and more discrete to transport and store.

Yes, PRO7 COCO BLOCKS can be blended with soil, perlite, clay pebbles and other such substrates, or use it as a stand-alone growing medium.

What is the RHP?

RHP certified substrates guarantee an optimal start of your crop. The RHP certificate ensures that the substrate complies with the quality requirements concerning, for instance, air content and water uptake, pH, EC and nutrients. For the production of RHP substrates, only phytosanitary clean raw materials are allowed to be used; the processes and products are regularly checked by independent inspectors. In short, quality of substrates is the basis for a good start of your culture.

Growing media with the RHP quality mark has more benefits:

  • The product and production process meet the RHP standards based on general, chemical, physical and phytosanitary requirements set up by specialists including growers.
  • Products with the RHP Horticulture quality mark are free of contamination with heavy metals, radioactivity, weeds, seeds, insects, plant and human pathogens, according to the RHP standard. Therefore, additional treatments like disinfection, sterilisation and/or fumigation are not necessary and are even undesirable.
  • The chemical and physical specifications of each particular substrate have to be predefined, ensuring that each delivery is consistent in properties.
  • Products with the RHP Horticulture quality mark, that consist of several raw materials, must be mixed in such a way that the properties of the batch are the same throughout the batch.
  • All product samples are analysed at RHP acknowledged laboratories. From each delivery, an RHP certified company has to retain a sample under specified conditions. RHP has developed parameters to measure and specify, like water uptake characteristic (WOK) and structure stability (respiration method).
